Home and Boat Italy is pleased to present to its customers a fascinating initiative of the historical Cinecittà film studios.
Cinecittà Shows Off is a stunning tour of the legendary Cinecittà Studios in Rome, revealing cinema secrets from the history of the famous studios.
Original sketches by celebrated set designers, costumes worn by international stars, and of course, the monumental sets: it’s a journey into what was dubbed the “Dream Factory“.
The Exhibition is divided into three areas revisiting the history of Italian and international Cinema, the crafts and trades of the Dream Factory, and a backstage tour giving visitors an in-depth look behind the scenes at the world of cinema. The Exhibition also offers the option of a guided tour through the monumental sets that are still used today for shooting films as well as national and international TV shows.
Apart from Cinecitta’s 20 sound stages which can be considered its flagships, the Studios’ almost 100 acres host several big permanent sets made by a construction department known throughout the world for its technical and artistic skills:
- Rome, where an entire ancient Roman neighbourhood was recreated for the famous TV series of the same name.
- Florence of 1400, reconstructed for Neri Parenti’s film Come tutto ebbe inizio;
- The Temple of Jerusalem created for the movie Christ the Lord due out in 2016.
Walking through the sets is a unique experience: tracing the footsteps of famous celebrities, discovering the places where internationally renowned directors shot some of their most classic cult movie scenes, viewing imposing set designs depicting historic Broadway with its myriad shops, and catching glimpses of ancient Rome.
