Neighbourhood:

the Apartment Francesca is in Via dell’Orso, just  5 minutes of walking distance from Piazza Navona.

Situated in the heart of Rome you’re in perfect position to do most of the sightseeing by foot: just around the corner you will find Piazza Navona with Bernini’s masterpiece – The Fountain of the Four Rivers – and be surrounded by beautiful terracotta buildings among which is Borromini’s Church St. Agnese.

If you continue your stroll for a couple of minutes more, you will find yourself at the Pantheon – ‘The Temple of the Gods’. From here you are ideally positioned to continue on to Piazza di Spagna and Via Condotti where you can purchase luxury goods from the best Italian designer stores and boutiques.

Crossing Piazza Navona you find Campo de’ Fiori, Rome’s most famous fresh fruit and veg market. In addition to this the piazza also boasts many excellent traditional, Roman restaurants, offering charming, ‘al-fresco’ dining, as well as numerous bars, pubs and gelaterias for those who wish to just ‘sink’ into the atmosphere. Next to Campo de’ Fiori lies Piazza Farnese which is dominated by the magnificent Palazzo Farnese – today home of the French Embassy.

Proceeding from here into the picturesque alleyway, Via Giulia, you can then cross over the river Tiber and find yourself in Trastevere: Rome’s bohemian ‘hot-spot’ for pubs, trattorias, pizzerias, galleries, and boutiques.

Saint Peter’s is only a 15 minute walk from your door.

It is here you can visit one of the world’s most famous and spectacular museums: The Vatican Museum with Michelangelo’s Frescos in the Sistine Chapel.

You can take either buses at the bus stop 2 minutes from your door or walk in 20 minutes to the antique part of Rome: the Colosseum, the Circus Maximus , the breathtaking Forum Romanum or the awe-inspiring Palatine Hill – said to be the birthplace of the Eternal City and later residence of several Roman emperors.
