Rome Fiumicino Airport will be the first airport in Europe to activate safe health corridors with ‘Covid Tested’ flights between Rome and some destinations in the United States, replacing the imposition of fiduciary quarantine on arrival in Italy for passengers on board thanks to the collaboration between Alitalia and Delta Air Lines.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Italy has been at the forefront of measures and protocols for the containment of the virus to the extent that it is considered one of the most virtuous countries at international level.
New travel protocols on flights from the United States to Fiumicino will be progressively offered to passengers as of December.
The procedure provides that passengers on Covid Tested flights, arriving from the American airports of New York JFK, Newark and Atlanta, will not be subject to the obligation of fiduciary quarantine in Italy thanks to at least one molecular or antigenic test carried out no more than 48 hours before boarding and an additional test repeated at the landing at Fiumicino, for greater safety.
Finally, this new travel mode enhances the already very high safety standards on aircraft, guaranteed by the constant change of air in the cabin by Hepa’s high efficiency filters, making air transport the safest mode of travel.
Other Covid Tested corridors have also been provided for connections between Munich and Frankfurt with Rome Fiumicino airport to ensure that this new travel mode can also be experienced within the European Union.
